Sainsbury's Local comes to Stratford

- New Sainsbury's Local store opened today in Romford Road
- 20 local colleagues, all living within a mile radius, ready to serve the Stratford community
Sainsbury's today opened the doors of its new Local store in Stratford, bringing convenience and a range of high quality fresh produce to residents seven days a week. The new store will be opened by store manager Kevin Lydon and colleagues, who are looking forward to bringing Sainsbury's to the local community.
The new 2,700 sq ft store, which has been built on the site of a former petrol station on Romford Road, will stock a range of high quality fresh produce, including Taste the Difference, locally-sourced, and organic products. It also boasts a bakery and a Foods Of The World section as well as stationery, newspapers and convenience food. Its 20 colleagues, who all live within a mile radius of the store and have transferred from other branches, will be on hand to help customers find everything they need.
The store is looking forward to supporting the local community too, and plans are already in place to find the store's charity partner. Customers will be invited to nominate their favourite local charity. Once selected, colleagues will then take part in a series of fundraising activities across a 12 month period.
Manager Kevin Lydon, who has worked for Sainsbury's for almost five years and is the former manager of the Arnos Grove branch, said: "We're so pleased to be opening a Local store in Stratford and becoming active in the heart of the community, both in offering convenient and affordable shopping, and through contributing to the area. We're looking forward to supporting one of the many fantastic local charities in the coming year, as well as helping local schools and community events."
